Vermivores

Cone snails that hunt and eat worms are called vermivores. In the shell kit, there are three cone snails that are worm-eaters: Conus chaldeus, Conus ebraeus, and Conus capitaneus. Conus chaldeus and Conus ebraeus belong to the same clade, which means that they share a common ancestor. Conus capitaneus is in a different clade than these two. Worm hunters use a venom delivery system similar to the snail and fish hunters. Once their prey is injected with venom and paralyzed, the snail will devour the worm and digest it.
