Neritina Communis

Zigzag Nerite

Quoy and Gamard, 1832

This species is abundantly found among mangroves in the Western Pacific. The zigzag nerite is an extremely variable shell, and in a single population, it seems that no two shells are alike. The zigzag nerite can either be black and white, or have red and yellow colors as well. Included in the collection are three different shells, to show how variable this species is. These are believed to be herbivorous snails.
